Gray Pottery Eagle Zun (jar) (about 6,000 years old)

Excavated from Taiping Village, Huaxian County, Shaanxi Province, in 1975, this eagle-shaped jar, 36cm high, belongs to the late Miaodigou sub-division of the Yangshao Culture. Made of grayish-black pottery, the jar is in the shape of a deformed eagle, with a fat body, a sharp beak, strong legs and a pair of bright, piercing eyes.
