Black-glazed cup produced in the Jian Kiln

Mouth contracted inward, belly contracted downward, ring foot. The inner surface is applied with glaze, and the lower part of the outer surface is not glazed and reveals its black base. The rim is yellowish brown, the lower belly black, and the outer wall has dropping bead-shaped glaze.

In the Northern Song Dynasty, as tea contest was prevalent in the palace, tea cup with thick base and black glaze like this caught on for quite a long time. On the black glaze there are radiate yellowish brown stripes which look like the fur of the hare, but it is actually a kind of crystalline glaze.
