Black-glazed cup with hare fur pattern produced in the Jian Kiln

Open mouth, straightly slanting wall, small ring foot; black base, fully-glazed on inner surface, incompletely-glazed on the outer surface. There are tear-drop shaped traces where glaze accumulates. The glaze on the mouth takes on dark reddish brown, downward brownish dark prevails, and the center pure black. There are vein-shaped dark brown pattern similar to hare fur.

Cups with hare-fur pattern were fired in many places such as Jiangxi, Shandong, Hebei and so on, among which the "jianzhan" (Jian cup) fired in the Jian Kiln was the most well-known.
