Double-Handled Primitive Celadon Jar

Early Western Zhou Dynasty
Height: 13.2cm
Mouth diameter: 8.4cm

Contracted mouth, folded belly, narrow waist, flat bottom, a horizontal handle on both sides of the belly; the body of the jar is glazed in grayish yellow, with water wave and string patterns ringing decorating the shoulders. The jar is shaped like a basket for holding fish, and the small-mouth-and-big-belly design is aimed at increasing its capacity. This design is typical of primitive pottery ware of the early Western Zhou Dynasty.
