An Underglaze Blue and Iron Red Water Chestnut Vase

Lightly potted form sits on a short straight ring foot with unglazed rim spreading to a low-slung and compact belly, contracting slowly to a short, straight neck, the entire form decorated in a sea of deep and dense underglaze blue clouds, finely over-painted with a patterning of playful and active iron-red bats, ringed at the foot and lip with waves motif, base with Guangxu mark in blue regular script.
