Aubergine-Glazed Plate with Undercarved

Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty
Diameter: 25.2cm

Broad circular form with straight ring foot and deeply bowed wall rising shortly to flared lip, evenly weighted and potted, undercarved on outside wall and along entire inner surface with complex and detailed swirling dragons, an effect cloaked mysteriously by the deep midnight hues of a glossy aubergine glazing, allowing the dragons to mysteriously swim in and out of visibility, base with double-ringed Kangxi seal in regular script.
