Bronze Mirror with Continuous Beads Pattern


Han Dynasty. Bronze mirror has a spherical knob on a base adorned with continuous beads pattern. Inside the major zone are symmetrically arranged six bosses alternate with divine creatures cast in high relief, including winged-human, auspicious beast, swallow, and etc. There are also some spaced motifs of rabbit, bird, mouse and fish in the zone. Outside which is a band of inscription starting with "Song Shi Zuo". The rim is adorned with a band of stylized pattern. Mirrors with such theme usually adorned with seven bosses, and those with five, six or eight bosses are much fewer. This thick and heavy mirror has a pleasing covering of black patina.
