A big premiere for season six of AMC's "The Walking Dead" is being held in New York's Madison Square Garden.

The event, which awards fans with tickets via giveaways and sweepstakes, screened the season six premiere and held a panel with 18 cast members.

Cast member Norman Reedus, who is a fan favorite, is modest about his character's popularity.

"I don't think about it to be honest. I get a lot of like cops and firemen and FedEx dudes being like, 'Yeah, Daryl!' you know? I don't really do those things where you see those people to be honest that know that they're loved, to be honest. I live in the woods and I come home to New York and hang out with my kid and hide in my apartment so, I don't know, it's nice."

"The Walking Dead" is about people trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse.

Over time, it's evolved from being about people trying to escape the undead as it is people trying to outlast other people, as civilization and order has crumbled around them.

It is one of the most-watched shows on television and has a global fan base.
