DDM Warehouse

DDM Warehouse

Established in 2000, DDM Warehouse occupies a converted space filled with dramatic pillars and staircases. Its urban style is just as suited to hosting art exhibitions as underground raves and the gallery often transforms itself into a live music venue - DDM Warehouse hosts the annual Rock for Charity gig every May, at which local bands play to raise money for the Shanghai Sunrise charity for the education of underprivileged kids. The music is accompanied by video art, a medium particularly supported by the gallery, as well as other new artistic medias such as installation and performance. Chosen to collaborate with 2007's prestigious Venice Biennale, the gallery is raising its profile, and has begun to hold exhibitions by some very well-established artists such as Beijing's Zhang Dali, whose works are now being collected by Charles Saatchi in his world famous collection. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 until 19:00, with late openings for special events.
